The Soča Valley is a land of water. Its upper end is tucked away among the mighty peaks of the Julian Alps, while further down it is surrounded by lush hills. It is dotted with numerous springs of crystal clear and healing waters that all spill into the emerald Soča. The river’s clear tributaries are a marvel of waterfalls, pools, and gorges. The varied landscape in itself is an invitation to be active and experience nature, but it is also full of secluded havens where you can enjoy peace.
Marked by history, the landscape is a link to the past. Sunny mountain terraces are dotted with mountain pastures where shepherds make the famous Bovški and Tolminski cheeses, whereas the valley is home to many traditional restaurants and inns, including the world-famous Hiša Franko of chef Ana Roš.
