There is a special creative spirit in the villages under Stol. It was the birthplace of the masters of the pen, France Prešeren, Fran Saleški Finžgar and Janez Jalen, the famous beekeeper Anton Janša and the scholar Matija Čop. Today, their birthplaces have been converted into museums and are linked to one of the oldest and most beautiful thematic trails in Slovenia – the Žirovnica Cultural Heritage Trail.

The 10-kilometer circular trail can be walked or cycled, on your own or accompanied by a local guide. We will take you into the world of masterfully written poems and stories and reveal bits and pieces of the lives of famous locals. In an authentic village setting, you’ll taste local delicacies and refresh yourself with delicious drinking water at the village watering holes and village troughs. You will discover the world of bees and flowering meadows, and learn stories from the hives. At every turn, you’ll enjoy exploring our remarkable cultural heritage and the views that inspired our famous compatriots.
