The festival is designed for local residents, families, nature lovers, food enthusiasts and advocates of sustainable living, as well as visitors from near and far who wish to experience the Soča Valley in a more authentic, mindful and meaningful way.

Cheesemaking Story is an exclusive culinary experience for private groups of up to 10 guests, offering an intimate introduction to the flavours and heritage of the Alpine borderlands. The experience takes place in the heritage-protected village of Robidišče, once deeply rooted in dairy farming and cheesemaking. As the village became depopulated, this tradition nearly disappeared, but today it is being revived through cooperation with local farmers and alpine grazing communities.
Through the distinctive regional practice known as napiče, animals such as cows and bees are entrusted to the hosts for summer care. They take responsibility for grazing, milking, and basic animal welfare, contributing to the alpine pastoral system. The milk and dairy products are then shared proportionally between owners and caretakers, supporting farmers, preserving traditional knowledge, and maintaining mountain pastures naturally.
The experience unfolds through storytelling and guided tastings of alpine cheeses, introducing guests to their origins and production methods. It concludes with a hands-on culinary session where participants prepare traditional dishes such as gnocchi, frika, or polenta with cheese. Visitors can also explore the on-site open-air museum and gallery, making this more than a tasting—it is a genuine encounter with local heritage and community.
What are this event’s responsible practices? 🌿 The experience revives traditional alpine pastoral practices through the regional napiče system, supporting biodiversity and local farmers. On Christmas afternoon, December 25, one of the most beautiful legends of Bled, the famous legend of the wishing bell, will be re-enacted on the surface of Lake Bled. This legend, which has been making wishes come true for hundreds of years on Bled Island, will come to life with the cooperation of the divers from the Bled Society for Underwater Activities.
Once upon a time, there lived a young widow in the castle of Bled. Her husband was killed by robbers, and his body was thrown into the lake. She was so inconsolable that she gathered all her gold and silver and had a bell cast for the chapel on the island, in memory of her husband. But the bell never arrived there. The bell, the boat, and the boatmen sank during a terrible storm. After this accident, the desperate widow sold all her property and offered the proceeds for the construction of a new church on the island. She then left Bled and lived the rest of her life in Rome as a nun.
After her death, the Pope heard of her misfortune and of her good deeds during her life as a nun. In her memory, he decided to make a new bell. He declared that anyone who rings the bell three times and believes in God will have their wish come true. Even today, sometimes on a dark night, you can hear the sunken bell ringing from the depths of the lake.
