Bled

Bled is one of the oldest and most beautiful Slovenian tourist destinations with a rich natural and cultural heritage. In the late 19th century, the lakeside town already had what was called a Tourism and Beautifying Club to make it even more appealing.

Locals became aware of the importance of sustainable tourism after World War II when there was a significant rise in tourism, which has only grown since then. Today, Bled is pioneering projects in many fields. Among other things, it was one of the first Slovenian municipalities with a zero-waste policy. Sustainable transport, biking and hiking paths, a traffic-free lakeshore, ecological farming practices, and cooperation among local food producers are only a few characteristics that will allow a green future for this destination.
