At a time when digital overload has become one of the defining social challenges of modern tourism, Jasna Natur Resort by Lake Jasna has developed an experience that understands sustainability in a broader sense – as a relationship with nature, place and human connection. The Family Digital Detox is a two-day (or longer) programme designed as a conscious break from screens and a return to oneself, to loved ones, and to the natural world.

The experience takes place in a sustainability-oriented Alpine resort with a limited number of accommodations, respecting the carrying capacity of its sensitive setting at the edge of Triglav National Park. Its unique location by Lake Jasna, with panoramic views of the Julian Alps, provides direct contact with water, forests and mountain landscapes – forming the foundation of the programme.

Sustainability as a Way of Living

The Family Digital Detox is not simply a phone-free programme, but part of Jasna’s wider story – a story of respect for nature, space and people. It is built on four simple yet essential principles:

  • consciously reducing screen use and unnecessary energy consumption,
  • encouraging walking and outdoor activities in nature,
  • collaborating with the local community and supporting local providers,
  • building our culinary offer around the concept of “Dishes from Three Countries,” highlighting local, seasonal and high-quality ingredients.

For us, sustainability is not a separate project. It is the way our guests stay, experience the place, and feel while they are here.

All activities take place on foot, in the immediate surroundings of the resort. We do not use cars or additional infrastructure; instead, we rely on what nature already offers – the lake, forests, walking paths and mountains. This keeps the environmental impact minimal and preserves the quiet, unspoiled character of the area.

Programme Structure

The programme is available year-round and lasts a minimum of two days. It includes:

  • family outdoor activities supported by a challenge booklet, the use of an instant camera and a “no-signal” pouch (interpretative walks, orientation challenges, cooperative games),
  • shared meals without electronic devices – including a dedicated “Phone-Free Dinner”,
  • culinary experiences based on local and seasonal ingredients,
  • time for relaxation, including use of the panoramic sauna and self-guided outdoor activities (such as a torchlit walk around the lake).

A strong emphasis is placed on mindful presence. Upon arrival, participants are introduced to the principles of the programme and receive guidance on responsible behaviour within the sensitive Alpine environment.

Local Cuisine as Part of the Sustainability Story

The gastronomic component is rooted in cooperation with local suppliers. Dishes reflect the culinary traditions of the three-border region – Slovenia, Italy and Austria – and are based on seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. Vegetarian and vegan options are always available.

In this way, the programme supports the local economy, reduces food transport distances and strengthens short supply chains.

Environmental Responsibility and Resource Management

Jasna Natur Resort integrates responsible resource management into the experience:

  • separate waste collection,
  • promotion of tap water consumption,
  • rational use of energy and natural light,
  • reliance on existing infrastructure without additional interventions in the landscape.

The programme is designed to operate without additional construction or logistical expansion, ensuring a minimal environmental footprint.

Social Impact

The Family Digital Detox reminds us that sometimes what matters most is simply how we spend time together. The programme encourages deeper relationships, genuine experiences of nature, reduced dependence on digital devices and a respectful attitude toward the environment.

Experiences like this help shape a model of tourism that does not revolve around constant stimulation or speed, but around quality, presence and meaningful depth.
