Solčava Days – a celebration of tradition, nature, and community
When July reaches its peak, Solčava comes alive with a special energy. Between July 24 and 26, 2026, the 33rd Solčava Days will once again bring together locals, visitors, creators, and mountain lovers in a three-day festival that is not just an event, but an experience of the place. Surrounded by Alpine peaks, meadows, and mountains, tradition, crafts, cuisine, music, and genuine socializing intertwine.
Solčava Days is a celebration of community. For more than three decades, the festival has preserved heritage while opening it up to visitors seeking authentic experiences in nature.
What makes Solčava Days special is that they showcase local knowledge, creativity, and entrepreneurship. It is a festival where Solčava’s providers present themselves – tourist farms, artisans, producers, artists, associations, and individuals who contribute to the identity of the place with their work. At the stands and workshops, visitors meet the people behind the different stories: those who felt wool, work with wood, make unique products, prepare homemade delicacies, or develop sustainable tourism practices.
The festival is not just a showcase of what is on offer, but also a meeting place for creators and visitors. Discussions about how products are made, how traditions are preserved, and how the modern tourist experience in the Alpine environment is developing give the festival a special value. The focus is on authenticity, local materials, and respect for nature, which is the foundation of life in the Solčava region.
Solčava Days also strengthen cooperation and integration and promote local self-sufficiency. Visitors here don’t just get a product or service – they get a story and an experience.
The events take place at various locations throughout the village of Solčava and its surroundings – from the mountains to the village center and at the Rinka Center, which is a hub for information, various exhibitions, and meetings. The entire event is set against the Alpine backdrop of three valleys – Logar Valley, Robanov Kot and Matkov Kot – which give Solčava its special character.

The destination transforms into a vibrant meeting point of sport, culture, music, and cuisine, welcoming locals and visitors of all generations.
Friday – connecting with nature
The first day of the festival is dedicated to introducing the story of Solčava. Friday invites visitors to get closer to nature and the people who live here. One of the main highlights of the day is the mountain experience – visitors can go on a guided tour with a shepherd and learn about life in the mountains. Such experiences offer an insight into everyday life, which is closely linked to respect for nature.
The village also hosts a traditional football memorial, which brings generations together and proves that sport is an important part of local identity.
On the first day, the Rinka Center will open a space for reflection on the heritage of handicrafts. Flax, wool, and embroidery are not just materials and techniques, but part of the story of self-sufficiency, ingenuity, and creativity of the inhabitants of Solčava. Presentations and discussions reveal how knowledge is passed down from generation to generation and how we incorporate it into contemporary products and sustainable practices today.

Visitors can join guided hikes along scenic alpine trails.
Saturday – creativity, movement, and music
Saturday brings a livelier vibe. It is a day when hiking, creative workshops, and cultural programs intertwine.
An organized hike to the mountains brings people together, and as they walk, views of green valleys and steep walls open up. Handicraft workshops have a special place, among which wool felting stands out – a technique closely linked to the local tradition of sheep farming. Under the guidance of craftsmen, participants create unique products and learn about the importance of using natural materials and respecting local resources.
Exploring butterflies, presentations of edible wild plants, and discussions about herbs offer a glimpse into the richness of Alpine biodiversity. Such content emphasizes that nature here is more than just a backdrop – it is a classroom, an inspiration, and a responsibility.
An important part of Saturday’s events is also storytelling from the Upper Savinja Valley. Stories passed down from generation to generation reveal the lives of people, their relationship with nature, and the little bits of wisdom that have shaped the everyday life of local communities.
Saturday evening is dedicated to music. A concert in a church setting creates a special experience. Music here is not just an accompanying program, but a moment of shared experience that connects visitors and locals.

Participants create unique products while learning about natural materials and local resources.
Sunday – festive atmosphere
Sunday rounds off the festival with a social and culinary focus. This day is dedicated to the flavors of Solčava and bringing people together. Workshops on preparing traditional dishes offer an insight into the culinary heritage of the area. Visitors can learn about the history of typical local dishes and the importance of local ingredients sourced from nearby farms and gardens.
The Rinka Center hosts a traditional chess meeting, which has been bringing together fans of this intellectual game from the wider region for many years.
The highlight of the day is Solčava Sunday with a market of local products. The stalls offer handicrafts, local delicacies, and the opportunity for direct contact with the vendors. This is not just a sale, but a gathering – a conversation about the creation of the product, family traditions, and the challenges of modern rural life. Music and a relaxed atmosphere create a festive conclusion to the three-day event.

A central element of the festival is the fair featuring local products and craftsmanship, alongside a strong focus on regional gastronomy.
