Soča Valley
The Soča Valley is a land of living water. In its upper reaches, it is protected by the mighty peaks of the Julian Alps, while further down it is embraced by rolling green hills. The valley is dotted with numerous springs of pure and healing water that flow into the emerald Soča River, while its crystal-clear tributaries create countless waterfalls, pools, and gorges.
This diverse landscape invites outdoor activities and nature experiences, yet it is also full of quiet corners where one can retreat and find peace. Nature here offers a strong connection to the past, revealing many traces of the region’s rich history.
Sunny terraces are lined with alpine pastures where the famous Bovec and Tolmin cheeses are produced, while tradition and heritage continue to live on in the valley’s outstanding restaurants and inns—most notably Hiša Franko, led by the renowned chef Ana Roš.
